In February, I completed more advanced training that helps relieve tension patterns around the eyes, face and more. Below is from ScienceDaily.com website. The link below provides more information regarding the study.
"Simply moving the eyes triggers the eardrums to move too, even in the absence of sound, says a new study by neuroscientists. The findings, which were replicated in both humans and rhesus monkeys, provide new insight into how the brain coordinates what we see and what we hear. It may also lead to new understanding of hearing disorders, such as difficulty following a conversation in a crowded room.
The researchers found that keeping the head still but shifting the eyes to one side or the other sparks vibrations in the eardrums, even in the absence of any sounds." (credit Science Daily.com)
Volleyball Setter's Sprained Ankle
This past spring, an athlete - who also happens to be my daughter - sprained her ankle after a classmate accidentally stepped on it in gym class. The ankle swelled up immediately and she had a big JO volleyball tournament the following weekend. In addition to standard protocol of ice, compression and elevation, it was a great opportunity to see if CranioSacral Therapy - combined with Fascia/Tissue Release - would help the healing process. And most importantly to my daughter, get back on the court in time for the tournament.
What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy, uses a very gentle, light touch approach. Pain and problems are relieved at the source. The body's natural self-healing mechanism is activated while soothing the central nervous system.
While gently applying the techniques above and below her injury combined with standard injury protocol, she could feel the muscles and surrounding tissues begin to relax almost immediately. She was able to get back on the court in time for the tournament and insists it's the fastest she's ever recovered from a sprained ankle.*
Additional Pain Relief Note: My daughter is currently playing college volleyball. In addition to the sprained ankle, this work has helped support her body through normal stresses an athlete goes through with muscles and joints. It also eliminated a migraine that she developed on the court which most likely was due to bumps and dives during the game.
CranioSacral Therapy is also helpful for the following conditions**:
Post concussions symptoms
Muscle and joint pain relief due to stress and injury
Sinus Pressure Relief

Glymphatic System, Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, Strokes, Brain Injuries and CranioSacral Therapy
This weeks Washington Post had an excellent article about scientific research of the glymphatic system of the brain and how it may help understand Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, strokes and traumatic brain injuries. Quote from the article: "the glymphatic system is like a dishwasher for the brain. The brain is very active....and so it produces a lot of junk that needs to be cleaned out.” Read about the study by clicking on this article link.
This past January I received advanced training applying CranioSacral Therapy techniques for the brain and spinal cord. The structures mentioned in this article are addressed. Those with early symptoms of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's may benefit from this very gentle, relaxing work. I also have experience working with clients who have post concussion symptoms.
Healing power of music. No additional words needed. Love this!
